Aura Pottery is a Ceramic Studio located in a three-acre farmhouse in Northern India. It provides a wholesome pottery experience through pottery retreat programs to both beginners as well as advanced level potters. You get to indulge yourself in pottery making with people who share the same passion for the beautiful art under one roof. If you’re up for learning a new craft and igniting your inner creativity, then Aura is undoubtedly one of the best places to be in!

Aura offers two learning retreat programs - A weekend pottery retreat and the long-stay pottery retreat. You could stay for a weekend and learn the basics of pottery or stay for a few weeks and soak up nature and the beauty of Aura.

All you need to know about the Stay at Aura

Firstly, if you haven’t been to Chandigarh ever, you need to know how to get to Aura. It is a 20-minute drive from the main city of Chandigarh and 4-5 hours of a drive from Delhi. It shows as ‘Aura Pottery’ on Google maps.

If you’re coming from overseas, you will have to take a flight from Delhi to Chandigarh. Once you have reached Chandigarh, there are four transport options to choose from - a taxi directly from Chandigarh Airport to Aura, a Volvo AC bus (20-25 minutes from the Bus station), a train (Shatabdi Express, 30-35 minutes from the Railway station) or you could take a connecting flight and fly to Chandigarh. Aura is about 33 Km from Chandigarh airport. In case of any emergency, be sure to have the required contact details and addresses on paper.

When it comes to the weather in Chandigarh, it is somewhat whimsical that often carries extreme hot and excessively cold conditions. So in summers at Aura, it gets pretty warm. Carrying light clothing is a must! All the rooms in the studio are air-conditioned along with a swimming pool to enjoy the sunny days. The monsoons are very pleasant and green but keep in mind they also bring in mosquitoes and other insects in the farm so make sure you carry mosquito repellent or anti-allergy medicines. Winters at Aura are pretty chilly so bring woollens or jackets. Also, Aura does not function as a hotel, so please bring your own toiletries and towels.

The Aura pottery studio is where all the fun stuff happens, where you will learn and play with clay and practice pottery. Our studio is air-conditioned and well lit. The residents are welcome to play their music while working in the studio. During the stay you are going to learn so much related to pottery and yes it does get messy so do bring your dirty, comfortable and airy clothes. Aprons, clay, tools etc are provided at the studio. It is open from 8 am to 8 pm so you can go out there and explore yourself.

The Aura stay is included in the cost of the retreat, we provide simple but clean rooms and bathrooms. There are different types of rooms, private as well as dormitories, and a common area where people can lounge together. You can find more information about the rooms here. We have a washing machine inside the villa and wires to dry the clothes.

Aura has three friendly dogs, always hungry for love, so be prepared to make some friends. Being a dog lover it was amazing to have them around.  As a farmhouse, it offers wide green gardens where you can walk around, relax and play with the dogs, so don’t forget a pair of shoes.

Aura has its own Organic Kitchen Garden, where all the organic farming takes place and you can feel free to venture into the learning of this craft as well. The food is made from organic vegetables of the farm and the meals are served three times a day at the studio. These meals are home-cooked Indian meals. If you wish to have any snacks or booze feel free to bring your own. There is also a common kitchen behind the studio for tea and coffee.  If you are allergic to any foods, do let them know in advance and they take care of it.

You will enjoy every bit of Aura as it’s a very soothing and a creative experience. There is a lot to do and so much to learn and with some great company by your side.
